Rehabilitation of various roads in Nakuru County on course

Written by Nancy Kihara

In efforts of H.E Governor Susan Kihika’s administration to provide durable roads across the county, Nakuru has over the recent months been developing innovative methods of road construction and maintenance.

Nakuru County Infrastructure Executive Engineer Michael Kamau today inspected various roads within the County that have been proposed for grading and gravelling.

One of the roads that were inspected is the 800m road that passes through Whizz Kid School and Luna Hotel and connects to the highway leading to Pipeline in Mbaruk ward, Gilgil Sub County.

The road which was impassable due to the intermittent big potholes has been rehabilitated using murram making the road even for residents to use.

“We’re keen to ensure that we rehabilitate our roads by using quality materials that will help us achieve well drained all weather access roads,” noted Engineer Kamau.

Lucy Mwangi a trader at Barnabas narrated how the previous poor state of roads affected the area residents due to the uneven nature and potholes that had riddled the road but they are now enjoying motor vehicle and boda boda transportation in the area.

The Infrastructure executive also inspected the ongoing spot patching and Shaping of Central Primary road in Kiamaina ward, Bahati Sub-county.

The work which is being done by the County government machinery aims to make damaged roads motor-able again.

The department plans to ensure that the ambitious plan which involves grading, dozing and drainage works is done within set timelines.

Eng. Kamau was accompanied by Jane Simita popularly known as Mama Zawadi.
